The evening takes a new look at forty years of intense artistic activity making out three different subjects : contemporary art, collaboration with television and self-portrait. Each part consists of a one-hour presentation and screenings. Discussion between the artist, the curator and special guests will end the event.<\/p>\n<p>The retrospective provides the opportunity to discover the recently published booklet, <em>M\u00e9andres et M\u00e9dia<\/em>, including new essays on John Sanborn\u2019s work, personal accounts by partners and relations and a DVD of selected works.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Booklet price<\/strong> : 15\u00a0\u20ac. \u00a0You can pay in cash or with a\u00a0check if you have a proof of\u00a0ID.<\/p>\n<p><strong>John Sanborn<\/strong> is an award-winning media artist whose work has been shown at every major museum in the world, and broadcast worldwide. He has shown at the Whitney Museum (solo installation and 2 biennales), MOMA (where he has work in the permanent collection) the Kitchen in New York; the ICA and Tate Modern in London; and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. He was an artist-in-residence at the celebrated TV Lab at WNET\/13 and received grants from the NEA, NYSCA, and the Rockefeller Foundation. Vogue magazine called him \u201cthe acknowledged genius in the field\u201d. In 2016 Sanborn will exhibit works at the Bangkok Art and Culture Center, the Festival Atout Paik and the Festival Bandits Mages in France. His feature length works <em>MMI<\/em>, <em>The Planets<\/em>, <em>PICO<\/em> (remix) and <em>ALLoT<\/em> (A Long List of Things) have played at major international film festivals including the Tribeca, Sundance, Mill Valley, Rotterdam, New York and London film festivals, winning awards too numerous to count. <strong>Sanborn<\/strong> is the director of many television programs for PBS, a sitcom for Comedy Central, and a rock and roll cooking show for the National Lampoon Network. During the heyday of MTV he directed music\/videos for <strong>Van Halen<\/strong>, <strong>Rick James<\/strong>, <strong>Nile Rodgers<\/strong> and <strong>King Crimson<\/strong>.
