Can an intimate kiss be translated into neuro-feedback data? What would the ultimate species for the end of the world look like?<\/p>\n<p>These are some of the questions which artists are playfully exploring through new technologies \u2013 from digital media to bio art and robotics \u2013 within the framework of the European Media Artists Residency Exchange programme.<\/p>\n<p>Eleven renowned media arts institutions from all over Europe \u2013 from FACT in Liverpool and LABoral in Gij\u00f3n to Onassis Stegi in Athens and RIXC in Riga \u2013 have joined forces and with the generous support of the EU\u2019s Creative Europe Programme and created the European Media Art Platform (EMAP). The programme supports emerging European media artists with a grant to produce new work, and a two-month residency at a host institution with access to their facilities and in-house expertise.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last two years, the success of the initiative can be demonstrated through high quality exhibitions, and EMAP alumni winning numerous accolades. Last year\u2019s artists in residence <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emare.eu\/artist\/karen-lancel-hermen-maat\">Karen Lancel and Hermen Maat <\/a>have been awarded by the Global AI ART Competition of the Tsinghua University; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emare.eu\/artist\/chlo%C3%A9-galibert-la%C3%AEn%C3%A9-kevin-b-lee\">Chlo\u00e9 Galibert<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.emare.eu\/artist\/chlo%C3%A9-galibert-la%C3%AEn%C3%A9-kevin-b-lee\"><em>&#8211;<\/em><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.emare.eu\/artist\/chlo%C3%A9-galibert-la%C3%AEn%C3%A9-kevin-b-lee\">La\u00een\u00e9 and Kevin B. Lee<\/a> won the Eurimages Lab Project Award at the film festival in Karovy Vary; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emare.eu\/artist\/anna-ridler\">Anna Ridler<\/a> \u2019s work MOSAIC VIRUS received an honorary mention at Ars Electronica 2018, and was also shown at the prestigious Barbican in London this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EMAP is now calling for applications for residencies in the years 2020 and 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Call for Applications \u2013 Residencies for European media artists in 2020 and 2021<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The European Media Art Platform will offer EMARE (European Media Artist in Residence Exchange) residencies for artists working in the fields of digital media \u2013 in internet and computer-based arts, in sound or video art, in media-based performance, as well as in robotics or bio-art. The upcoming call covers residency stays in 2020 and in 2021 at eleven renowned European media art organisations. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">European artists can apply with a project proposal for a residency at one of the following institutions :<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ars.electronica.art\/\">Ars Electronica<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/ars.electronica.art\/\">,<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/ars.electronica.art\/\">Linz, Austria<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.onassis.org\/\">Onassis Stegi<\/a>, Athens, Greece<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/bandits-mages.antrepeaux.net\/\">Bandits Mages<\/a>, Bourges, France<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fact.co.uk\/\">FACT<\/a>, Liverpool, United Kingdom<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.impakt.nl\/\">IMPAKT Centre for Media Culture<\/a>, Utrecht, the Netherlands<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kontejner.org\/\">Kontejner<\/a>, Zagreb, Croatia<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.laboralcentrodearte.org\/\">LABoral Centro de Arte y Creaci\u00f3n Industrial<\/a>, Gij\u00f3n, Spain<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.m-cult.org\/\">M-Cult<\/a>, Helsinki, Finland<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rixc.org\/\">RIXC<\/a>, Riga, Latvia<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wrocenter.pl\/\">WRO Art Center<\/a>, Wroclaw, Poland<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/werkleitz.de\/\">Werkleitz Centre for Media Art<\/a>, Halle (Saale), Germany<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The residencies are for two months in one of two time frames, either from March to August 2020 or from January to May 2021.
